Fred Barnes and Naked Hate

I know I am coming late to this story, but what struck me about Fred Barnes' attempt to link the Bishop to pornography was utterly and completely clueless it sounded to anyone who understood even a little bit about the Internet. And today, that groups includes a significant portion of people my age and younger, and, of course, the upper middle income "wired workers". To anyone who knows how the Internet works, Barnes' contention that Robinson was linked to porn because the web site for a group he was associated with linked to other sites that, eventually, a few clicks away, linked to pron* was ludicrous. To believe it, Barnes must have either been a technological idiot or awash in desperate, contemptible hatred for homosexuals.

According to Agenda Bender, the link was six sites away. That is like saying that I should be condemned because I talked to someone who talked to someone who talked to someone who talked to someone who talked to someone who talked to someone who buys pron.* Its idiotic, and I have a hard time believing that a man who works for a magazine that pouts nearly every article it produces online is obtuse as to not understand just how idiotic his position was. It could only be that desperate, vile hatred of homosexuality. Even if I feel like being charitable and assuming that Barnes has no idea how the media he uses to help make his living operates, that still leaves him looking like a clueless fool to millions of younger people. Not only is he a homophobe, he is an out of touch homophobe.
