Bredesen Gutting More TennCare
Posted by Kevin

Via South Knox Bubba, we see that Bredesen is now planning to remove all drug coverage from the TennCare plan.

Interestingly enough, Bredesen does this one day after the former head of the TennCare pharmaceutical operations stated that joining a multi-state purchase plan and other chnages ot the administration of the program could save 500 million dollars. Bredesen repsonded by threeatening to remove all drug care from TennCare participants. There was, of course, no discussion of actually joining the plan or taking back paperwor duties form innefficicnat HMOs.

Bredesen has shown a level of political cowardice that is disgusting. He has bowed to the pharmaceutical and HMO interesting the state, and he has attacked defenders of TennCare in language that Republicans use to denigrate the program. At a time when personal debt is reaching all time highs, when insurance costs are skyrocketing, and when companies are dropping health insurance all together, Bredesen refused to defend TennCare. It was easier for him to kick off 700,000 people off TennCare than it was to spend of dime of political capital standing up for what is right and decent and Christian.

I sincerely hope that the good Governor has no aspirations to higher office, because he has proved himself unworthy.

I talk with Rep. John Tidwell today at First Baptist Church in McEwen,Tn. He said that the Governer is DEAD set on destroying TennCare. I said he was acting more like a Republican than a Demanercrate and Tidwill agree whole heartedly. He said that the Republican in the state have an easer actcess to the Governer Office than do members of his own party… He said he would not be suporting him for re-election. I told him that the people I am talking to conserning TennCare have said that anyone who voted for Bredison’s plan to distroying of TennCare can forget ever being re-elected to any office. We will campain againts them. We will start a new Branch of the Demericatic Party…
