Cats v. Dogs
by tgirschFebruary 15th, 2006
Even months after the fact, there are still frequent comments being added to this post I did on cats versus dogs. They range from cruel and ignorant to bizarre and downright hilarious. Check it out.
The not-so-funny follow up is that the cat in question has since died at a very young age (only five), and that the spraying was probably symptomatic of the problems that ultimately killed her.
Against my better judgment, I now have a new cat (more on this later), and so far no incidents.

Google says Dogs win!
Yes, but by that standard, cats beat guns (and by a wider margin).
Well, there are probably more cats than guns
Interestingly, there are a lot more cats than dogs. Honestly, I’m surprised dogs beat cats in a Google-fight, because cat owners (in my experience) tend to be a lot more obsessive (not to mention a lot weirder) than dog owners.
Heh. I figured with all the cat blogging people do, cats would win. But more guns could mean less cats
So let me get this right… 1) There are more cat owners than dog owners 2) Cat owners a weirder and more obsessive than dog owners. 3) dogs beat cats in a Google-fight. Your argument/insults are self-defeating. By the way SayUncle, the way I see it, the more guns the fewer cat haters!
FUCK CATS AND CAT LOVERS!!!!!!!
Obviously the Cats v Dogs question will never be solved. Dogs are generally extrovert, and cats generally introvert, (I know, plenty of exceptions)
So, extrovert people like dogs, and introvert people like cats. That’s my take on it. Probably plenty of exceptions to that theory also!
BTW I’m a cat lover!
Feed you cat choclalte it good for them I love dogs
In Response to #9:
Chocolate is poisonous to cats.
In response to the so-called “Cats vs. Dogs” debate, referred to in this post, I notice the dominance issues that the majority of dog owners seem to have. (Not to mention the vocabulary issues.) I live with 8 cats and a woman whose personal totem is “fire dragon”.I am, in the main, in PARTNERSHIP with them all. Dogs don’t do partnership. There is an Alpha, and the rest of the pack.
Dogs are smarter than cats? When was the last time you heard of a group of cats in harness, looking up the butts of the one in front, running over the snow to tow a human.
Cats can be trained. Two things are REQUIRED! You have to convince the cat that it is in his best interest, and, most important, you have to be smarter than the cat.
Not long ago a circus came to Austin, Tx, with a cat act, that featured 7 or 8, on any given night, cats doing various stunts and feats that amazed the audience. I found out that the trainer traveled with 38 cats so that he would have 7 or 8 willing to work on show nights.
Oh, and by the way, cats have never been domesticated by Humans. After we discovered agriculture, They moved into the vicinity of granaries for the easy huntings of rodents, Mrs. Farmwife began to give them milk, and they recognized a good thing and moved into the big house.
Pound for pound, Cats are THE most efficient predators on land.
There’s a reason they lay around. They only have to hunt for a few hours a day in a reasonably wildlife inhabited area. And they don’t need back-up to get the job done. “Pouffie”, a 15-18 lbs. female can catch birds out of the air.
Taz-?, my ex main man, (he was anti-freeze poisoned by a psycho neighbor) used to help me chase a neighbor’s cat who was attacking our other cats, out of our yard, then come back to me when I called him away, even in the middle of engagement. When my work shift changed so that I was getting up at 6 AM, to take over the cab, he would speak to Donna, then go to the bedroom door to be let in, and I would wake up with him stretched out next to me, with his head on my arm. Don’t tell me Cats aren’t affectionate. Its just that its gonna be on their terms. You have to earn a cat’s respect. If you don’t treat a cat with some respect, they will leave. They don’t need you.
Also, cats have more muscles in their faces than humans. their expressions are more subtle and covered with fur, not to mention, derived from an alien (to us) world-view, but they are there.
With all due respect, (to dogs, not their owners) dogs have their place in the world. But you know, cats have been worshiped directly as Gods in several cultures. They have been Temple Guardians in Siam. I have a friend whose home was burglarized. Well, actually, when they got home their Siamese was still keeping the burglar from escaping. The burglar was hospitalized.
In Austin, Sophie, very old, 12 lb, never ran from the neighbors 65 lbs dog. She just raised her head up from the driveway where she slept most of the day, and he went around her to go chase some other cat.
Obviously, I could go on for quite a bit longer with this, but its supposed to be a comment, not an essay.
