Another Quote of the Day

From Glenn Greenwald, or one of his alleged sockpuppets:
But for people like Jonah [Goldberg] and David Warren, [standing your ground and acting tough] is accomplished by urging fights where they have nothing at risk. This is not a “chickenhawk” argument. It is far beyond that. So much of our public dialogue is dominated by people — exactly like David Warren — desperate to bask in the reflected glory of epic warriors without ever risking anything and to feel powerful and strong and resolute and “full-chested” while sitting at home, protected and safe but still scared of everything. They are people who have an endless need to parade themselves around as courageous nobles without ever doing anything noble or courageous.
This attitude, as displayed by Warren and Goldberg, is precisely what Kevin and I are talking about when we complain about “thumb-sucking conservatives.”
Go read the whole thing.
As a side note, man I wish I could snark like this:
[Conservative bloggers] were outraged that the story wasn’t getting the attention it deserved from mainstream media and speculated that it was because of bias against Fox News. Michelle Malkin even quoted some liberals who expressed contempt for Fox News and seemed to feel the men deserved to be kidnapped, including such well-known and respected thinkers on the Left as Bob Laurence, the TV critic for the San Diego Tribune and former Snohomish County, Wash., Democrat party official Mike Whitney. They seemed to be speaking the unexpressed thoughts of all liberals. Although Fox News President Roger Ailes later revealed that he had asked the rest of the media to keep a lid on its reporting while negotiations were going on, which might have accounted for the lack of stories by the MSM, that does not negate the possibility that they did, in fact, have contempt for the Fox News journalists anyway.
