Not A Good Man

How morally vacant do you ave to be to say something like this (my emphasis) :

PELLEY: Do you think you owe the Iraqi people an apology for not doing a better job?

BUSH: That we didn’t do a better job or they didn’t do a better job?

PELLEY: Well, that the United States did not do a better job in providing security after the invasion.

BUSH: Not at all. I am proud of the efforts we did. We liberated that country from a tyrant. I think the Iraqi people owe the American people a huge debt of gratitude, and I believe most Iraqis express that. I mean, the people understand that we’ve endured great sacrifice to help them. That’s the problem here in America. They wonder whether or not there is a gratitude level that’s significant enough in Iraq.

Even if you think that the invasion was a good idea in the abstract, you have to recognize that the US has failed miserably in its obligation to provide order and security to the Iraqis. Iraq is a living hell. People are afraid to send their children to school. Religious fanatics have driven women out of the professional fields and into the house. Tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people have been killed by violence. There is ethnic cleansing and a low grade sectarian civil war going on right now. People are afraid to send their children to school. Almost every day, dozens of bodies with unmistakable signs of torture are found in Baghdad alone. All of this is a direct result of the US invasion.

But Bush thinks that the Iraqis are insufficiently grateful. I think that tells you all you need to know about the complete lack of morality animating Mr. Bush.

Bush is the education president, just like his daddy was environmental.

If kids aren’t going to school in Iraq, what will happen to their NCLB scores???????

Won’t someone think of the children???

(I was thrown out of school (had to go homebound) for missing too many days - surgery, illness, the like - but the kids arrested for selling drugs on campus were allowed to graduate. For attendance purposes.)

As for Bush, we invaded your country, blew everything up, now you pick up the pieces, Christ, Saddam’s dead, you’re much better off.

Did you catch the part where he said he was DRAFTED into TANG? If true he is the only draftee in the history of the Nat’l Guard.

The dead Iraqis are extremely grateful. Just that, you know with them being dead and all, it’s kind of hard to hear them express their gratitude.

There’s never been any real doubt that bush cares for nothing and no one but his oil company friends and cash money, but that comment falls under downright stupid. What a horrible slap in the face to the hundreds of thousands of now-homeless, parentless, clildless… Iraqis.
