Bad Jounralism in Action: The Nonsense Spreads

D at LGM points to the spread of the awful article I highlighted yesterday. The Washington Times, Instapundit, and Drudge have all picked up on the misleading article and trumpeted it as “evidence” that global warming science is weak. Needless to say, its spread throughout the anti-science right. This is how they make things happen: they latch onto something that, at a quick glance, could be made to say what they want it to say and stat yelling about it in every forum they have access to. And, as I said yesterday, in a few weeks, the “fact” that the sun causes global warming will have entered the public conversation.

Whoever wrote and approved that article in its horribly misleading state has done science a huge disservice. I expect better than that from the National Geographic.

It’s said that really enjoying fiction requires the “willing suspension of disbelief,” that is, the ability to accept the fantasy at face value in spite of its conflict with reality.

Instapundit, Drudge, and others - including our resident skeptics - must have a great time at the movies.
