Announcement: Tomorrow is “Let Your Neighbor’s Kids Drown Day”
Posted by KTK

The “Tax Foundation” wankers have issued their annual announcement, naming today “Tax Freedom Day” - the day that represents that percentage of the calendar working year corresponding to the national average percentage of personal income paid out in local, state, and federal taxes combined. Obviously, your pay isn’t sent directly to the government until that day - payroll taxes are taken out in increments throughout the year - but they like to characterize this as the day you can finally “pay for things other than government”. Naturally, they think paying for government is a bad thing: their press release is full of references to how large that expense is, and is headlined “America Celebrates Tax Freeedom Day®” (yes, with a trademark symbol, no less).

So, tomorrow represents the day the Tax Foundation, and their ilk, can begin celebrating “Abandon the Public Schools Day®”, “Libraries Are For Pussies Day®”, “I Believe What Drug Companies Tell Me Day®”, “Who Needs Pasteurized Milk, Anyway? Day®”, and “Pre-Natal Care = Communism: You Can’t Coddle ‘Em Forever Day®”. Thank god we can finally stop acting as a civilized community, hoard our resources solely for our personal indulgence, retreat to our gated communities and watch the weak fall by the wayside. When the sun dawns tomorrow on “National I Got Mine, Jack, Screw You Day®”, a new age of freedom will have begun.

Wow. Here in Canada that day is somewhere in late June. What a difference. And the last paragraph is repeated virtually word for word here. Just how much would be enough?

The school taxes, library taxes, milk taxes, pre-natal welfare taxes are all included in the pre-Tax Freedom Day. How much more do you want to give the govt? I’m sure they would be willing to accept any extra donations you want to send in. Of course, that’s not the liberal way. Your compassion is satisfied through the extraction of money from other people.

Actually, this day only signifies the amount we are spending in cash. If you figure out the debt the Republican government is running up to be paid for by your kids and figure it in, you are looking at a day much later in the year. Being a Republican means never having to wait for something when you can just put it on the tab!

Over 2/3’s of the federal debt is the result of a 75 year buildup of liberal social welfare programs. Before you start pointing fingers at who’s responsible, take a good look at the bills we are paying. Plus, thanks to our progressive tax system, those who are successful in life financially are burdened with a much high percentage.

Which is why I’m always amazed when liberals complain we’re not shelling out enough. Quite the contrary, we shell out too much as it is. Our Founding Forefathers are spinning in their graves today for sure.

To be contrary, the national debt is largely the result of a failed political process and that failure goes beyond liberal and conservative. Too many Americans do not understand the basic formula of Spending = Taxes. We want services, we want cops we want personal and corporate welfare, we want subsidized heath care, we want, we want, we want. We just don’t want to pay for it. So we elect people who give us what we want and don’t make us pay for it and those of us who understand fiscal reality just hope we aren’t going to be hurt too bad when gravity reasserts itself.

WWII, Korea, and Vietnam — all liberal social welfare programs. And I forgot the Cold War — another leftie boondoggle.

What proportion of the total debt was added in 1981-1993? You’d be surprised to find out when the lowest debt-as-a-fraction-of-annual-income was.

And don’t blame the Democrats - Reagan had a veto, and the majorities in the House and Senate were transitory, and not veto-proof.

There’s enough blame to go around for bleeding-heart liberal democrats and spineless Republicans. A pox on both their houses.
