Feingold v. Edwards by tgirsch

This caught my attention at TPM, but Russ Feingold (D-WI) seems to really have it in for John Edwards. Feingold attacks Edwards’ credibility here (via TPM Election Central), and it’s not the first time he’s done it.

This strikes me as odd, because on the surface, Edwards seems to be the most progressive of the three “viable” Democratic contenders, and Feingold is perhaps the most reliable progressive in the Senate. So why the bad blood here?

I like Feingold a lot, so his opinion carries a lot of weight with me. But his opinion of Edwards surprises me a little.

My sense is that it’s due to the fact that when Edwards had a Senate seat he didn’t seem that interested in the causes that drive his campaign today.
