FISA Vote Today

A cloture vote that could sink telecom immunity is taking place later this evening. Thankfully, Clinton and Obama will both be back for that vote, though both are still falling short of the kind of leadership I had hoped we would see. Via Firedoglake, here is a list of Senators to call and ask to vote against cloture. We cannot allow the government to end run the Constitution by getting private companies to spy on us illegally and then shielding those companies from the consequences of that illegal behavior. Remind the Senators that the rule of law is what this country is founded upon. And remind them that just becasue the country has suffered one terrorist attack does not mean that we should rush will-nilly to abandon the Constitutional protections that have kept the country safe and strong for two hundred years. That would be a cowardly thing to do, and Americans aren’t supposed to be cowards.

Obama voted against immunity for the phone companies, Clinton did NOT vote. She’s too busy in TX shmoozing for votes to be bothered with something like protecting our freedom.
I had been an Edwards fan, and couldn’t figure out who to throw money to next. I just sent a contribution to Obama. Hillary blew it.
What’s the problem with you folks…the USA needs the FISA as written. If you want to catch the bad folks who want to harm us it has to pass. I suggest the folks who are against the immunity issue pull their heads out of you know where. Freedom ain’t free
