A cloture vote that could sink telecom immunity is taking place later this evening. Thankfully, Clinton and Obama will both be back for that vote, though both are still falling short of the kind of leadership I had hoped we would see. Via Firedoglake, here is a list of Senators to call and ask to vote against cloture. We cannot allow the government to end run the Constitution by getting private companies to spy on us illegally and then shielding those companies from the consequences of that illegal behavior. Remind the Senators that the rule of law is what this country is founded upon. And remind them that just becasue the country has suffered one terrorist attack does not mean that we should rush will-nilly to abandon the Constitutional protections that have kept the country safe and strong for two hundred years. That would be a cowardly thing to do, and Americans aren’t supposed to be cowards.
