Castro Resigns
Posted by Kevin

The only question that concerns me is whether or not the embargo is going to be lifted. The embargo is a terrible policy and it has probably done a great deal to prop up the Castro regime. It made the privation of the Cuban people seem like part of a great struggle agaisnt an overwhemlingly powerful foe. It was stupid and counter-productive, but it was an easy means to look “tough”. And in our foreign policy environment, looking tough trumps acting smart every single time. This stupid embargo will probably out live me.

I thought liberals loved embargos? Is that not what brought South Africa around? As well as Iran, Korea, China, the Soviet Union? Isn’t that the first thing we are supposed to do? I keep hearing that from liberals. Funny how it does not apply to countries they like.

    Smell the hypocrisy.

Isolation is a piss poor way to spread democracy and American ideas. Simply look at the changes happening in China vs Cuba in the last ten years or so.

Fred, no doubt your expectations vis-a-vis Democrats frequently turn out to be wrong, but it is big of you to own up to your misconceptions.

No, they usually meet or exceed my expectations.

    Matt:

You’re relatively new to our blog. Fred = Morris. He’s our resident troll. He used to post as “Fred” long ago, and while we welcome informed dissent and intelligent debate, his comments were so vacuous and annoying that even our right-leaning readers were becoming annoyed by him, so Kevin (the site owner) tried to ban him. He went away for a while, promising never to return, but then re-emerged posting under the name “Morris.” It quickly became clear, both from his “style” (if you want to call it that) and from his lack of substance, that Morris was just a sock puppet for Fred.

    Hope that helps.

He was a poster who refused to let the leftists loons on this site sprew their socialist crap and not be challenged. He was banned without warning, despite the lie that he promised never to return. The liberals in here are great entertainment, but don’t expect any semblance of sanity or truth from them.

tg: “He went away for a while, promising never to return,”

Do you ever tell the truth?

Maybe you he didn’t exactly use the term “promise,” but you he did say that you weren’t he wasn’t going to comment here any more. Which, surprise, turned out to be a lie.

I think it is probably time to ban the Morris version of Fred as well. He does not offer anything of substance and only serves as a distraction. He brings down the level of discussion at this site.

That he is an uneducated, lonely, social misfit might justify “taking him in” for a while, but it is time for him to find some other porch to crawl under and nip at the heels of a different group. We have borne his burden long enough. In my opinion.
