In Praise of Last Night’s Forum

I did not see all of the forum, so I something may have happened that would change this opinion, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the “compassion forum” CNN held last night. It seemed to me that the quality of the answers, if not necessarily the questions, was much, much better than during a normal debate. Debates have denigrated into a series of stupid “gotcha” questions and talking point regurgitation that very often have little to do with the actual issues facing the country. I think the format allowed for much more detailed, thoughtful responses that you usually find in a political setting. Yes, it did seem at times that Clinton was filibustering, but there did seem to be less pre-canned responses and fewer talking points. I would really like to see a couple more of these kids of discussion on different topics. I think a forum like this on foreign affairs, science, and the economy could be very useful.
Yeah, the response by Obama when asked about when life begins was a classic. He is expert at saying nothing. His reputation for fluff is intact. Why was the question so difficult for a fervent pro-abortion liberal?
I feel better about the election every time Obama speaks. I especially feel better after his “bitter” remarks in San Francisco. If he wants to be president he needs to hide his liberal elitism.

Morris, why don’t you give up and go away? You seem to always try to interject abortion into every discussion. Leave Obama alone.

For all those who criticize Bush on his speaking style, listen to Obama when he isn’t reading from a telepromter. His answers at the “compassion forum” about when life begins and his answer about creation and science were full of uhs and awkward pauses. It was painful to listen to him.
Also, Hillary answer about why a loving God would allow AIDS, Darfur, etc., was embarassing. She turns the question around and blames us for mankind’s ills because we haven’t responded to God’s call to help others. Typical “blame America first” attitude from a typical liberal.
