Worst Debate Ever?
Apr 16
My Lord, that was awful. The first hour contained not a single question on any matter of policy. Not one. They asked about flag pins for crying out loud. They asked no questions, as far as I could tell, about the torture memos, about FISA, about health care, about deregulation, about the housing mortgage crisis, the world food crisis, global warming, al Qaeda or Pakistan. Not only did Gibson frame is economic question entirely in the terms of the discredit supply-side economics, he then argued with the candidates about their answers! They gave each person one minute to talk about gas prices! This was the worst debate I can remember watching. It was a complete travesty, a two hour object lesson in the complete and utter collapse of American media.

For which the candidates can be thankful. The more they talk about their radical leftist policies, the worse it will be for them. They need to keep they socialist agendas hidden as much as possible.

I won’t say it was the worst I’ve ever seen, what with the Republican Iowa debate a while ago. It did involve a lot of stupid questions, and neither candidate did particularly well with them.
I think Obama actually did better than Hillary (her response to the VA tech thing managed to be both idiotic and laughable, a rare combination from her), despite getting a few ‘harder’ questions (the Weather Underground one was about as well-reversed as possible), but there really should have been more overall policy questions than specialized situational ones. Unfortunately, while he did better despite the ‘harder’ questions, that’s only going to help much among the younger crowd — older folk are probably going to see it as a Clinton victory until the Hillary was Mean meme comes out. That one will be successful; how long it took Hillary to admit that Obama might be able to win is the only think BHO needs to make sure of that, and Clinton Aide Stephanoplo-snufflufugus image will turn it into child’s play. Hillary’s “do whatever necessary” to win quote might go on the side, too.
Probably the best result he could hope for on the ‘cling’ comment — not enough to save PN for him, but helpful on the long run to get it out of his way.
Obama’s economic policy was junk, and his gun control question was an all-out lie, but he tossed out the bread and circus that resonates well with Dems on that matter. Surprised both of them let themselves be caught under a ‘no new taxes’ statement.

As usual, Obama’s head was full of stuffin’ and he talked about nuthin’. Hillary directly answered her critics, no matter how “laughable” a person might think it was. The debate was badly formatted and the questions were asked about controversy and symbolism rather than the more meaty issues. I also thought the “flag pin” question was idiotic.
Obama still dodged the Rev. Wright controversy.
There is no way that a man, like Obama, could go to a church for twenty years and not know his preacher’s views on pertinent subjects. Does Obama wear blinders, like a horse, when he goes to church? Or does Obam just read the Bible and not listen to the sermons?
