I don’t get it. Not at all. Not even remotely close. I just look at it, mouth agape, and drool, trying to figure out what it all means. By way of comparison, 2001 makes total sense.
Maybe I’m just working too hard for it…

XCKD is about absurdity ascendant, similar to things like FLCL or Kafka’s work. It’s as much about how your brain tries to wrap around the missing logic as the actual question.
It’s someone that’s twice as much of a classhole as him. Or someone that tries to mimic him. Or just an individual that thinks having two hats is a good idea. Given that black hat man’s previously commandeered a Russian sub over one hat, something that spooks or creeps out him is dangerous.
It can be some interesting humor, but it depends on the person in the middle.
yeah, it took me a minute to figure out that the little vertical lines on the last one were meant to indicate motion, as in, he’s backing away from the guy with two hats.
i feel this one. i’ve had a lot of frustration around hats and other people the past couple months. i finally found a hat that looked good on me that i could afford, after literally years of searching, and then what do i see but every third cut-rate hipster on the street sporting similar hats. it made me want to get all violent, before i remembered that i am a Man of Peace.
Or, maybe he had just listened to the Coast to Coast AM show on the Hat Man as part of the Shadow People phenomenon.
