Michelle Obama’s Speech

by Ted

August 25th, 2008

I was anxious to hear Michelle speak tonight.  I was concerned that not being a professional, she might not be too effective in communicating her message.  Needless to say, those concerns have been soundly put to rest.  She certainly put Nancy Pelosi to shame.

I wonder if we could have a debate between Cindy McCain and Michelle.  That would be a very interesting experience.

    Michelle was superb.

    And she’s only Obama’s FIRST wife :-)

(Working from the transcript, as I do not watch public speeches)

Interestingly done. I’m not good at reading people, but her tones and pacing was much different from earlier public speeches, as was a bit of extra emphasis on more optimistic stuff. Dunno if it was more confidence, more practice, or someone coaching her, but it certainly helped.

A bit heavy on the glurge, but that seems to be a given for modern day Democratic candidates.

Gatt, the delivery was excellent as well. She will be a real asset campaigning to middle class women from here on out.

Man, now I wish I had seen it. I’m sure there’s video somewhere. Anyone got a link?

If the speech was intended to relieve the fears of uncertain white americans, it was hugely succesful.

But a debate betweeen Cindy and Michelle? First, get Cindy to wear a dalmation coat. When Cruella McCain inquires about the wellbeing of Barack’s brother, ask her about her step-sisters…
