The Last Starfighter

You know, I remember that movie looking really cool when it first came out. Now, it’s remarkably cheesy. I guess the graphics were impressive for 1984.

And somewhere along the line, I’ve developed a deeply-rooted cynicism for movies involving a magical negro. *sigh*

Bad Move, Kevin
Posted by tgirsch

Since Kevin’s Chicago Blackhawks have been eliminated from contending for anything (except perhaps a better shot at the top draft pick), he’s taken to following my Maple Leafs. Who aren’t technically eliminated, but who need to win their last two games (the final one in regulation) or get help to make the playoffs (from which they will be promptly ejected if they make it).

Tonight, they needed overtime to get a home win over the last place Flyers. And I don’t mean last in their division — last in the league.

I appreciate the moral support, but I hope there’s no history of cardiac problems in your family…

Quote of the Day, 2007-04-03

OK, it’s actually from 2007-04-01, but here’s Hilzoy:

I remain absolutely amazed that Rudy Giuliani is being seriously considered as a Presidential candidate. Likewise Mitt Romney, although in Romney’s case the problem isn’t evidence of spectacularly bad judgment but his last-minute conversion on so many issues of importance to the Republican base. And Fred Thompson? What’s up with that? That would be like nominating the word “avuncular” to govern the country.

Ha!

Question Of The Day: Baseball and Steroids
Posted by Kevin

Very busy this week, so something to keep you occupied. Since baseball has started, do you think that the record books should reflect the well supported suspicion that many of the players of the 1990s and early 2000s were taking performance enhancing drugs? If so, what specific action would you like to see?
